Decal Guide: Watch BobMack3D's Video Guide!

Please note: The decals are not individual decals. You will need to cut each decal to separate it from the entire sheet. For example, if you soaked the entire sheet in water, the whole sheet would come off as one whole combined decal sheet.

  1. Carefully cut around the decal using a sharp hobby knife or decal scissors.
  2. Using tweezers, dip the decal in water and place it on a safe surface. I tend to place it on a damp paper towel. This prevents the decal from separating completely from the paper backing prematurely and gives you more control as to when and where the decal will come off.
  3. Apply decal solution over the surface. Make sure you apply a gloss finish to the model/area and let dry completely. Some decal solutions such as Mr Mark Setter and Softer can interact with your paint.
  4. Using your tweezers and a q-tip or soft edge, place the cut-out decal on your surface and carefully push off the decal. Use the q-tip or brush to push around the decal. If needed, apply a drop of water if you need to move around the decal some more.
  5. Let dry completely. I wait around 4 hours to a whole day.
  6. Apply a matte or gloss finish over the model/decal to protect it from scratches and removal.

FAQ

  • Can I place these decals against black paint?
    • YES! Due to recent upgrades in our printing technology, we are able to print completely opaque. Rest assured; the decal colors will stay vibrant when applied to various color backgrounds!
  • Do I need to prepare the surface of the decals before using them?
    • Typically, no. I've been able to cut and apply the decals within seconds of being printed off the printer without any color bleeding issues that you see with inkjet printers.
  • Can I use weathering/oil washes?
    • Yes, but be sure to spray a finish over the decals once applied to the model to protect it from coming off during the weathering stage. However, be careful as aggressive oil and weathering over the decals can cause it to separate if it isn't sealed with a finish first.
